M.A.C’s Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation is an oil free, waterproof foundation that repels moisture from the skin. This foundation claims to give 24-hour medium to full coverage that leaves the skin with a hydrated appearance. This foundation can work for all skin types but I think it’s especially awesome for dry, dry combo, skin types.
Personally dewy / satin finishes are my go to. And once I read the M.A.C’s claims for this foundation I was certain it would fit me. I originally purchased this during the winter and let me say I fell in love with it.
THE FINISH:
This gel type formula goes on so smooth and easily melts into the skin. It gives me the healthy looking finish I’m always going for. This foundation in my opinion has a natural demi- matte finish. If your looking for more of a matte look use with a matitifying primer or a finishing powder NOT both. Using both will totally change the formula of the foundation.
PRO’s
I can vouch for at least 12 hours of wear with this foundation. This foundation doesn’t need retouching, if anything I may just blot my T-zone. The texture of the Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation is unlike any liquid foundation I’ve tried. It has a gel type of feeling which makes it easy to apply and blend into the skin. And yes it’s waterproof. This foundation isn’t going anywhere unless you’re ready to wipe it off. So tears/splashes of water at the water park won’t put a damper on your beat at all.
I also really like the squeeze tube it comes in. I just squeeze out what I need on the back of my hand and twist the top back on. I absolutely love foundations that have pumps or in tubes because things are kept clean and sanitary.
CON’s:
My first con is that the color is a bit off. I’m usually an NC50 in M.A.C.’s foundations, but with this formula the NC50 is a bit too cool. A girl at the M.A.C suggested I mix a pump of my NC50 Pro Longwear concealer to warm it up. When I did that the match was great and I didn’t I notice a change in the formula. Hopefully M.A.C will widen color range on this foundation. But I love this formula so much, I’ll probably end up getting another shade to get my perfect color before that happens.
HOW I APPLY:
- Like I mentioned before this foundation is a medium to full coverage. When I apply foundation I like to gradually build it up to full coverage, rather then applying an heavy coat to start. This avoids cake face.
- After moisturizing and priming I use my fingers to dot the product on my face. With this foundation a little goes a long way, so I go in with a light hand to start. For me I stop after two coats with this foundation.
- I use a brush or a sponge to blend the foundation into my skin. This foundation goes a long way so I use a wet the sponge to sheer and blend it out.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The packaging is great, defiantly purse/ makeup bag friendly. This product cost $34.00 for 25ml/.085 oz. Yes its less product then what M.A.C usually provides. But like I said before a little bit goes a long way and can also be used as a concealer. This foundation is waterproof, so its safe to wear to the pool ect without it melting or running off.
If you like demi matte, natural satin looking foundations. Or if your want a long lasting hydrating looking foundation, you will like this. I think this is good for every skin type but for dry, dry combo skin types this is perfect. Keep in mind this foundation is waterproof not sweat-proof. I’m oily in my T-zone so I carry some powder or blotting paper with me to touch up that area when needed.
