Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lt-Rt Vivid Violet,Possessed Plum & Berry Boost

The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lip Colors retail at around $8.00. These lip colors can be found at CVS, Walgreen’s, Target, Walmart and online. I picked up the colors Vivid Violet (which I immediately loved), Possessed Plum and Berry Boost. I wasn’t entirely sold on the nudes and bright pinks at the time, so I played it safe with these 3 colors.

The Vivid Matte Liquid lip colors were not as matte as I expected. The formula feels like velvet cream on the lips. They slightly remind me of  NYX’s soft matte formula, but less drying. In my opinion these lip colors are creamy, matte and glossy at the same time. As the name implies,the pigmentation on these lip colors are amazingly vivid. The Vivid Matte Liquid lip colors are definitely WOC (Women of color friendly).Below are swatches in natural lighting.

The Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid lip colors move easily on the lips. For even distribution I usually need to apply two coats. Occasional reapplication is needed and application can be a bit messy. I also noticed that Possessed Plum was patchy with two applications. Though 3-4 applications are needed, this color is still pretty.

To be very honest I expecting them to be 100% matte. But I can still appreciate the pigmentation on them and I’m happy with the colors I picked.
